Requirements
To qualify for an e-Entry visa, you must fall into one of the following specific categories and be a national of one of the 166+ eligible countries:
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO): You are a foreign citizen who previously held Indian citizenship, or you are the child or grandchild of an Indian citizen.
- Spouses of Indian Citizens: You are legally married to a current citizen of India.
- Family of PIOs: You are the spouse or child of an individual who holds (or is eligible for) OCI status.
- Dependents of Long-Term Residents: You are the spouse or child of a foreign national currently residing in India on a valid e-Business, Employment, or e-Student visa.
Key Restrictions
- Nationality Exclusions: If you are of Pakistani origin or hold a Pakistani passport, you are ineligible for the e-visa system and must apply for a traditional paper visa at an Indian Mission.
- Passport Type: You must hold a standard passport. Holders of Diplomatic, Official, or Laissez-passer travel documents cannot use this pathway.
- Individual Application: Every traveler, including minors, must have their own individual passport. You cannot apply if you are endorsed on a parent’s or spouse’s travel document.

Applicants of Pakistani origin or holding Pakistani passports are ineligible for the e-Visa system and must apply for a regular paper visa.

The application must be submitted at least 4 days before the date of arrival or the portal may block the submission.
