Eligibility Quiz
Are you a citizen or of origin of Pakistan?
Application Process
The e-Entry Visa is a digital version of the traditional "Entry (X) Visa," allowing you to apply entirely online without visiting an embassy or consulate. You must submit your application at least 4 days before your intended arrival date in India.
To begin, visit the official Indian e-Visa portal.
Step 1: Online Registration
Select the "Apply here for e-Visa" button. You will be asked to provide your nationality, passport type, and port of arrival. Under the "e-Visa Services" section, select e-Entry Visa. You must then choose the specific sub-category that applies to you:
- Persons of Indian Origin (PIO): For former Indian citizens or their descendants.
- Spouses of Indian Citizens: For foreign nationals married to an Indian citizen.
- Spouses/Children of PIOs: For family members of OCI cardholders.
- Dependents: For spouses or children of foreign nationals holding long-term Indian visas (such as e-Business, Employment, or e-Student visas).
Step 2: Complete the Application Form
Fill in your personal details, passport information, and contact details in India. Ensure your name matches your passport exactly. You will be asked for details regarding your parents and your spouse (if applicable).
Step 3: Upload Digital Documents
You must upload clear, color scans of the following documents. If scans are blurry, your application may be "Returned for Correction," causing delays.
- Passport Bio-Page: The page showing your photo and personal details. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date and have at least two blank pages.
- Digital Photograph: A recent square photo with a white background.
- Relationship/Origin Proof:
- For PIOs: A copy of a previous Indian passport, a Surrender Certificate (proof of renouncing Indian citizenship), or a birth certificate proving Indian parentage.
- For Spouses: A marriage certificate and a copy of your spouse’s Indian passport or OCI card.
- For Dependents: A birth or marriage certificate and a copy of the principal visa holder's visa and passport.
Step 4: Payment
Pay the visa fee using a credit card, debit card, or payment wallet. Once the payment is successful, you will receive an Application ID.
Step 5: Receive your ETA
If approved, you will receive an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) via email. You must print this document and carry it with you when you travel.
Step 6: Arrival in India
Present your printed ETA at one of the 31 designated International Airports or 5 designated Seaports. An immigration officer will capture your biometrics (fingerprints and a photo) and stamp your passport for entry.
Fees
The cost of the e-Entry Visa varies based on your nationality. Most applicants can expect the following:
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Standard Government Fee | $69.00 – $80.00 USD |
| Mandatory Bank Transaction Fee | 3% of the visa fee |
| Total Estimated Cost | ~$71.00 – $83.00 USD |
Note: This total does not include costs for obtaining official documents (like birth or marriage certificates) or fees charged by third-party visa agencies if you choose not to apply directly through the government portal.
Processing Time
You should plan your travel according to these specific timelines:
- Submission Window: You must apply no later than 4 days before your flight. The portal may block applications submitted closer to the travel date.
- Standard Processing: Most applications are processed within 72 hours to 4 days (3 to 6 business days).
- Visa Validity: Once you enter India, the e-Entry Visa is typically valid for 90 days (3 months).
- Entries: This visa allows for Multiple Entries during its 90-day validity period.
- Document Validity: Your passport must remain valid for at least 6 months beyond your entry date.
