Eligibility Quiz
Is the person you are joining (the sponsor) a Slovak citizen?
Requirements
To qualify for this pathway, you must be a family member of a foreigner who holds a valid temporary or permanent residence in Slovakia. Your eligibility depends on your specific relationship to that person:
- Spouses: You must both be at least 18 years old. The marriage must be legally recognized.
- Minor Children: Unmarried children under the age of 18 (including your spouse's children or adopted children).
- Dependent Adult Children: Children over 18 who cannot care for themselves due to a long-term unfavorable health condition.
- Dependent Parents: Parents of the resident (or the resident's spouse) may qualify only if they lack family support in their home country and require intensive care.
- Sponsor Restrictions: You cannot apply for reunification if your family member in Slovakia only holds a permit for seasonal employment or is a student (in certain restricted categories).
You will be disqualified if you have a criminal record involving serious offenses or if you are considered a threat to public health or national security. Furthermore, as of July 2025, the Slovak authorities have implemented stricter checks on accommodation standards, meaning you cannot qualify if the housing provided by your sponsor does not meet the minimum square footage required for the number of occupants.
