Have you been legally married to a Beninese national for at least five (5) years?
Documents Required
All documents must be provided in French. If your original documents are in another language, they must be accompanied by a certified translation. Foreign documents generally require an Apostille or legalization by the Beninese consulate in the country of issuance.
Identity and Status Documents
- Formal Application: A signed request addressed to the Minister of Justice and Legislation.
- Birth Certificate: A certified copy of your birth certificate.
- Identity Photos: Recent passport-sized photographs.
- Residency Proof: Your current residency permit (carte de séjour) or other evidence of your residence in Benin.
Marriage and Spousal Documents
- Marriage Certificate: A certified copy of the acte de mariage. If the marriage occurred abroad, you must provide the Beninese transcription certificate.
- Proof of Spouse’s Nationality: This can be your spouse's Beninese birth certificate, a certificate of Beninese nationality, or a valid Beninese passport.
Background and Legal Documents
- Criminal Record: A Casier Judiciaire (police clearance) from your country of origin and a Beninese police clearance if you have been residing in Benin.
