Eligibility Quiz
Are you currently in Portugal or at a Portuguese border point?
Documents Required
Under strict rules implemented in April 2025, AIMA requires a complete file at the time of submission. You should gather:
- Identity Documents: Your passport, national ID card, or any other official identification. If you have no documents, you must provide a detailed, consistent statement regarding your identity and origin.
- Evidence of Persecution: Any physical or digital proof supporting your claim, such as court summons, police reports, medical records showing injuries, threatening letters, or news articles mentioning your situation.
- Travel Evidence: Boarding passes, tickets, or any documentation showing your route to Portugal.
- Photographs: Usually captured digitally by AIMA during your registration.
- Translations: While AIMA provides interpreters for interviews, any supporting documents not in Portuguese should ideally be accompanied by a certified translation to ensure they are properly weighed during the merits phase.
