EU Long-Term Residence Permit

To qualify for this permit, you must meet four primary criteria regarding your length of stay, financial stability, insurance, and language proficiency.

• Five-Year Continuous Stay: You must have resided in Poland legally and uninterruptedly for at least five years immediately preceding your application. "Uninterrupted" means that no single absence exceeded six months, and the total of all absences did not exceed 10 months in the five-year period.
  • Note on Students: If you were in Poland on a student visa or temporary permit for studies, only 50% of that time counts toward the five-year requirement.
  • Note on Blue Card Holders: If you hold an EU Blue Card, you can count time spent in other EU member states toward the five years, provided you have spent at least the last two years in Poland.
• Stable and Regular Income: You must demonstrate that you have had a stable and regular source of income for the three years immediately preceding the application (or two years if you hold a Blue Card). This income must be sufficient to cover the living costs for yourself and any dependents.
• Health Insurance: You must possess health insurance as defined by Polish law (usually ZUS coverage through employment) at the time of application.
• Knowledge of Polish: You must provide official certification of your Polish language skills at a B1 level or higher. This is typically proven via a state certificate, a school-leaving certificate from a Polish school, or a diploma from a university where the language of instruction was Polish.
