Documents Required
All documents issued outside of Mexico must be apostilled or legalized in the country of origin and translated into Spanish by a translator authorized by the Mexican Judiciary.
Identity and Status Documents
- DNN-3 Application Form: The official application generated through the SRE portal.
- Resident Card: Your original Temporary or Permanent Resident card, which must be valid for at least six months beyond the date you apply.
- Foreign Passport: Original and copies of every page (including blank pages).
- Birth Certificate: Your original foreign birth certificate, properly apostilled and translated.
- CURP: Your unique population registry code (Clave Única de Registro de Población).
Marital and Spouse Documents
- Mexican Marriage Certificate: A certified copy issued by the Mexican Civil Registry (Registro Civil). If you were married abroad, the marriage must be "inserted" (registered) into the Mexican Civil Registry before you apply.
- Proof of Spouse's Nationality: The Mexican spouse’s birth certificate, Certificate of Mexican Nationality, or Naturalization Letter.
- Spouse’s Identification: A valid Mexican ID (typically the INE voter card or a Mexican passport). The address on the spouse's ID must match the address on your application.
- Declaration of Cohabitation: A signed statement under oath by your spouse confirming you live together.
Background and Travel Records
- Criminal Record Checks: You must provide both a Federal (Antecedentes Penales Federales) and a Local criminal record clearance from your state of residence.
- Travel History: A signed letter listing every entry and exit you have made to and from Mexico during the last two years.
