Documents Required
You must provide comprehensive documentation to prove your integration and financial stability. All foreign documents must be accompanied by an official Hungarian translation.
- Identity Documents: A valid passport and copies of all previous passports used during your three-year residency period.
- Proof of Subsistence: Evidence that you can support yourself and your family without state assistance. This includes bank statements, Hungarian tax certificates (NAV igazolás), or employer letters.
- Proof of Accommodation: A valid lease agreement or property deed, along with your Residential Address Registration (lakcímkártya).
- Health Insurance: Proof of comprehensive health insurance (state or private) or evidence of sufficient financial reserves to cover medical costs.
- Clean Criminal Record: An original police clearance certificate from your country of origin, issued within the last 6 months (required for applicants over age 14).
- Integration Proof: As of 2025, you must provide proof of passing a basic Hungarian cultural and social integration exam, which tests knowledge of Hungarian history and society.
