Eligibility Quiz
Are you a third-country national (non-EU/EEA/Swiss)?
Application Process
The Type O.2 residence permit allows you to transition from a dependent status to an independent one. This process is handled electronically through the Greek government's digital infrastructure.
Step 1: Document Preparation
Before starting your online application, gather all required digital copies. You will need:
- A valid passport (valid for at least three months after your intended stay).
- Your current Type O.1 (Family Reunification) residence permit.
- Proof of Health Insurance (either public coverage or a private contract in Greece).
- Proof of relationship, such as a marriage or birth certificate. These must be apostilled (an international certification) or legalized and translated into Greek by a certified translator.
- For specific categories (like family of Financially Independent Persons), proof of Sufficient Means (approx. €2,000–€3,500 per month).
Step 2: Pay the Government Fee
You must pay the Paravolo (electronic fee) before submitting your application.
- Visit the e-Paravolo portal.
- Select the codes corresponding to the Migration Code (Law 5038/2023).
- Pay the €150 fee and the €16 card fee. Keep the electronic receipts.
Step 3: Online Submission
Applications are submitted through the Ministry of Migration and Asylum online portal.
- Create an account or log in using your TaxisNet credentials if you have them.
- Upload your documents and enter your Paravolo receipt numbers.
- Once submitted, you will receive a Bebeosi (Blue Receipt). This document serves as your temporary legal status in Greece while your application is pending. Note: While the Bebeosi allows you to stay in Greece, it does not always guarantee travel rights to other Schengen countries; check current travel rules before leaving Greece.
Step 4: Biometrics Appointment
After your digital submission is reviewed, you will be notified to schedule an appointment at the Apokentromeni Dioikisi (Decentralized Administration) or the Migration Department in your area of residence.
- Attend the appointment in person.
- Provide your fingerprints and a physical signature.
- Bring your original passport and the Bebeosi.
Step 5: Collection
Once your permit is approved and the physical card is printed, you will be notified to collect it from the same office where you provided your biometrics.
