Eligibility Quiz
Were you born in Ghana?
Documents Required
The burden of proof lies with you to demonstrate your lineage. All documents not in English must be accompanied by a certified translation.
Identity and Lineage Documents:
- Your Birth Certificate: A full-form certificate that lists the names of your parents.
- Parents’ Evidence of Citizenship: This includes their Ghanaian passports (current or expired), Birth Certificates, or Voters ID cards.
- Grandparents’ Evidence of Citizenship: If claiming through a grandparent, you must provide their Ghanaian birth records or colonial-era travel documents.
- Proof of Relationship: If names have changed due to marriage or legal deed poll, you must provide Marriage Certificates or legal Change of Name documents to "bridge" the identity of the ancestor to your own birth record.
Supporting Documentation:
- Current Foreign Passport: A valid copy of your current nationality’s passport.
- Photographs: Recent passport-sized photographs (typically four) that meet Ghanaian biometric standards.
- Affidavits: In cases where official birth records for ancestors are missing (common for births before 1960), you may need a Statutory Declaration signed by a relative or person of high standing in Ghana who can attest to your family’s origins and lineage.
