Eligibility Quiz
Are you a former citizen of the Czech Republic or the Czechoslovak (Socialist) Republic?
Requirements
Eligibility for this pathway is strictly limited to four specific groups. You must be able to prove you fall into one of the following categories to self-assess your eligibility:
- Family Members of Asylees: You qualify if you are the spouse of a person who has already been granted asylum in the Czech Republic, provided the marriage existed before the asylee entered the country. You also qualify if you are the minor child (under 18) of an asylee, or a child who is dependent on them for care, and you do not qualify for asylum in your own right.
- Former Czech Citizens: You qualify if you previously held citizenship of the Czech Republic or the former Czechoslovak Republic and subsequently lost it.
- Compatriots (Czech Origin): You qualify if you can prove your Czech ancestry (krajan). This is often categorized under "reasons worthy of special consideration" and requires a Certificate of Belonging to a Czech Heritage Community.
- Victims of Human Trafficking: You qualify if you have held a long-term residence permit for the purpose of protection and your cooperation with law enforcement was instrumental in prosecuting crimes related to human trafficking or organized illegal border crossings.
Key Thresholds:
- No Language Exam: Unlike the standard 5-year permanent residence track, this humanitarian pathway generally does not require you to pass a Czech language proficiency exam.
- Dependency: For adult children, "dependency" must be proven through medical or financial records showing an inability to provide for one's own basic needs.
