Are you a national of a Mercosur Member or Associate State (Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, or Peru)?
Documents Required
All foreign documents must be Apostilled (or legalized by the Argentine Consulate if your country is not a member of the Hague Convention). Documents not in Spanish must be translated by an Argentine Certified Public Translator (Traductor Público Nacional) and subsequently legalized by the Colegio de Traductores.
Identity and Civil Status
- Valid Passport or Cédula: Your current national ID card (Cédula de Identidad) or a valid passport.
- Entry Proof: A digital or physical stamp showing your legal entry into Argentina.
- Birth Certificate: Required to prove your parentage and essential for future permanent residency or citizenship applications.
- Marriage Certificate: Only required if you are applying alongside a spouse to prove the legal union.
Background Checks
- Home Country Criminal Record: An official certificate from your country of origin and any country where you resided for more than one year in the last three years.
- Argentine Criminal Record: Issued by the Registro Nacional de Reincidencia (this is obtained locally in Argentina).
Proof of Residence
- Certificado de Domicilio: A certificate issued by the local police station near your Argentine home, or a utility bill in your name, to prove where you are currently living.
