To prove your claim to citizenship, you must provide a clear paper trail connecting you to your Nigerian ancestors.
Identity and Lineage Documents
- Applicant’s Birth Certificate: Must show the names of the parents.
- Proof of Ancestor’s Citizenship: The data page of your parent’s or grandparent’s Nigerian passport or their National Identity Number (NIN).
- Evidence of "Indigenship": A Letter of Identification from the ancestor's Local Government Area (LGA) in Nigeria. This confirms the family belongs to a specific indigenous community.
- Passport Photographs: Recent standard photos meeting Nigerian immigration specifications.
Supporting and Financial Documents
- Guarantor Forms: Two guarantors who are Nigerian citizens by birth and are of high professional standing (e.g., lawyers, doctors, or senior civil servants).
- Marriage Certificate: Required if you have changed your name or are applying based on a spouse's lineage.
- Residence Permit: If you are currently living in Nigeria while applying.
- Proof of Domicile: For registration applicants, documents showing your intent to live in Nigeria (e.g., property titles, employment contracts).
