Eligibility Quiz
Are you currently physically present in Mexico?
Documents Required
The Mexican system is designed to accommodate people who had to flee quickly, meaning the lack of a passport is not an automatic disqualification. However, you should provide as much of the following as possible:
- Identification: A passport, national ID card, or birth certificate. If you do not have these, you must provide a written explanation of why they are missing.
- Proof of Entry: Any document showing when you entered Mexico (such as a bus ticket or immigration form) to prove you are within the 30-day filing window.
- The COMAR Application Form: This is provided and filled out at the COMAR office during your initial visit.
- Supporting Evidence: Any documents, photos, or reports that support your claim of persecution or the dangerous conditions in your home country.
- Translations: Any documents not in Spanish must be translated. While official "perito" translations are ideal, COMAR often provides basic translation assistance during the interview phase.
