Documents Required
All foreign-language documents must be translated into German by a sworn translator and, in most cases, must be legalized or carry an Apostille from the issuing country.
Identity and Status
- Valid Passport: Your current national passport and your German residence permit.
- Marriage Certificate: Proof of your legal marriage or civil partnership.
- Spouse’s Proof of Identity: Your spouse’s German passport or national ID card (Personalausweis).
- Birth Certificates: For yourself and any children included in the application.
Integration and Education
- B1 Language Certificate: A recognized certificate (e.g., Goethe-Institut, TELC, or TestDaF).
- Naturalization Test Result: Proof of passing the "Living in Germany" exam.
Financial and Support
- Proof of Income: Typically your last three months of payslips, an employment contract, or tax assessments if you are self-employed.
- Pension Insurance Record: A statement from the Deutsche Rentenversicherung showing your contribution history.
- Proof of Housing: A rental agreement or proof of home ownership.
