Is your family member (the sponsor) a Croatian citizen or a foreigner with legal residence in Croatia?
Documents Required
All foreign documents must be officially translated into Croatian by a certified court interpreter. Depending on the issuing country, documents may also require an Apostille or full legalization.
Identity and Travel Documents
- Valid Passport: Your travel document must be valid for at least three months longer than the intended stay.
- Photographs: Recent passport-sized photos meeting Croatian biometric standards.
Proof of Relationship
- Marriage Certificate: For spouses (issued within the last six months).
- Birth Certificate: For children, proving the parent-child relationship.
- Proof of Extramarital Union: For partners, this requires extensive documentation such as shared bank accounts, joint lease agreements, or witness statements proving a life partnership of at least three years (or less if a child is involved).
Financial and Health Documents
- Proof of Income: Bank statements, employment contracts, or pension slips from the sponsor showing they meet the minimum monthly income threshold set by the Croatian government.
- Health Insurance: Proof of private health insurance or a certificate from the Croatian Health Insurance Fund (HZZO).
Background Checks
- Criminal Record Certificate: An official certificate from your home country (or country of last residence) confirming you have no criminal convictions. This is typically required for the initial application.
