Eligibility Quiz
Are you currently outside of Canada?
Documents Required
The application process relies heavily on the IMM 6000 package. All documents not in English or French must include a certified translation and a translator's affidavit (a formal sworn statement).
Identity and Status Documents
- Proof of Refugee Status: If you are being sponsored by a Group of Five or a Community Sponsor, you must provide a document from the UNHCR or a foreign state officially recognizing you as a refugee.
- Identity Papers: Birth certificates, marriage certificates, and passports (if available).
- Family Records: Divorce, annulment, or death certificates for former spouses.
Mandatory Forms
- Generic Application Form (IMM 0008): The primary form for the head of the household.
- Schedule A (Background/Declaration): A detailed history of your residences, education, and employment for all family members aged 18 and older.
- Schedule 2 (Refugees Outside Canada): This is the most critical document; it is where you provide a detailed written account of the events that forced you to flee your home.
