Documents Required
You must provide clear evidence of your family tree and your financial standing. All documents not in English or French must include a certified translation and an affidavit.
- Identity and Status Docs: Your Canadian passport, Permanent Resident card, or Secure Certificate of Indian Status.
- Proof of Relationship: Birth certificates, adoption papers, or official family registers that trace the bloodline between you and the relative.
- Proof of Orphan Status: Death certificates for both parents (required for the orphaned minor category).
- Financial Evidence: Your most recent Notice of Assessment (NOA) from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).
- Background Docs: Police certificates and medical exams for the sponsored relative (and any of their dependents).
- DNA Evidence: In cases where official paper records are weak or unavailable, IRCC may request DNA testing to confirm the biological relationship.
