Eligibility Quiz
Have you completed at least 1 year of continuous, full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience in a TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3 occupation within the last 10 years?
Requirements
To qualify for the FSWP, you must meet two distinct scoring thresholds. First, you must meet the minimum program requirements to enter the pool. Second, you must score high enough in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) to be selected.
1. Minimum Eligibility (The 67-Point Grid)
Before you can enter the Express Entry pool, you must score at least 67 out of 100 points on the FSWP selection factor grid. This grid assesses:
- Work Experience: You must have at least one year of continuous, full-time (or equivalent part-time) paid work experience within the last 10 years. This work must fall under TEER categories 0, 1, 2, or 3.
- Language Proficiency: You must prove a minimum level of CLB 7 in all four abilities (reading, writing, listening, speaking) in either English or French.
- Education: You must hold a Canadian credential or a foreign degree supported by an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA).
- Age, Arranged Employment, and Adaptability: Points are also awarded based on how old you are, whether you have a valid job offer, and how well you are likely to settle (e.g., having a spouse with language skills or relatives in Canada).
2. Settlement Funds
Unless you are currently authorized to work in Canada and have a valid job offer, you must prove you have sufficient savings to support yourself and your family upon arrival. As of July 2025, the minimum requirements are:
- 1 person: $15,263 CAD
- 2 persons: $19,001 CAD
- 3 persons: $23,360 CAD
- 4 persons: $28,362 CAD (Amounts increase by approximately $3,500–$4,000 for each additional family member.)
3. Admissibility
All applicants must be legally admissible to Canada. This means you must not have a criminal record, pose a security threat, or have a medical condition that would place an "excessive demand" on Canada’s healthcare system.
Conditions & Warnings
The one year of qualifying work experience must be strictly continuous; any gap can lead to rejection.
Proof of funds thresholds are updated annually; failing to meet the new amount at the time of Invitation to Apply (ITA) results in rejection.
Reference letters must explicitly match the duties of the chosen NOC code, not just the job title.
