Documents Required
The application process requires a comprehensive dossier. All documents not issued in French must be accompanied by a certified translation.
Identity and Civil Status
- Valid Passport: Your original passport with at least six months of remaining validity.
- Current Residence Permit: Copies of your existing ordinary or temporary residence permits covering the last five years.
- CIP (Certificat d’Identification Personnelle): A biometric identification certificate issued by the Beninese authorities. This is a mandatory requirement for all administrative acts in Benin.
- Passport Photos: Recent passport-sized photographs (typically 4 to 8 copies).
Background and Health
- Police Clearance: A Extrait de Casier Judiciaire (Police Report) issued by Beninese authorities within the last three months.
- Medical Certificate: A certificate of health issued by a doctor practicing in Benin, confirming you do not have contagious or mental illnesses that could pose a public risk.
Financial and Residential Proof
- Proof of Income: Certified copies of employment contracts, bank statements for the last six months, or proof of business ownership and tax compliance.
- Proof of Residence: A Certificat de Résidence (Certificate of Residence) or a formal lease agreement and recent utility bills (water or electricity) in your name.
