Documents Required
All documents issued outside of Benin must be apostilled (if your country is a member of the Hague Convention) or legalized by the Beninese embassy in your country of origin. Documents not in French must include a certified translation.
Identity and Civil Status
- Valid Passport: Must have at least 6 months of validity remaining.
- Proof of Legal Entry: Your entry visa or e-visa.
- Birth Certificates: Required for children and the sponsor to establish the legal blood relationship.
- Marriage Certificate: Required for spouses to prove the legal union.
- Certificat d’Identification Personnelle (CIP): A mandatory Beninese identification certificate issued by the Agence Nationale d'Identification des Personnes (ANIP).
Background and Health
- Police Clearance: A certificate from your country of origin for the initial application.
- Medical Certificate: Issued by an authorized health professional within Benin.
Financial and Residency Support
- Proof of Accommodation: A valid rental lease or property title in Benin.
- Attestation of Residence: A document obtained from your local Chef de Quartier or Mairie (Town Hall) confirming where you live.
- Proof of Income: The sponsor’s bank statements or employment contract showing sufficient funds to support the household.
