Documents Required
While the absence of documents does not automatically disqualify you, providing evidence is critical to the success of your claim.
- Identity Documents: Passports, national ID cards, birth certificates, or military booklets.
- Travel Evidence: Plane or train tickets, visas for transit countries, or receipts that help establish your route to Austria.
- Evidence of Persecution: Any documentation that supports your specific claim, such as newspaper articles, court summons, arrest warrants, medical reports, or photographs.
- Family Documentation: If applying for family-related protection, you may need marriage certificates or birth certificates for children. Note that as of 2024, mandatory DNA testing is frequently required to prove biological relationships.
- Translations: While the BFA provides interpreters for interviews, any physical documents you submit should ideally be translated into German.
