Documents Required
All documents not in German or English must be accompanied by a certified translation. Depending on the country of origin, documents may also require an Apostille or full legalisation.
Identity and Vital Records
- Valid Passport: Your current national passport.
- Birth Certificate: Your full birth certificate listing your parents' names.
- Marriage/Divorce Certificates: To document any name changes or marital history.
- Proof of Name Change: If your current name differs from your birth certificate.
Ancestral and Supporting Evidence
- Chain of Descent: Birth and marriage certificates for every generation linking you to the Austrian ancestor.
- Proof of Ancestor's Status: Old Austrian passports, Heimatrecht (right of domicile) documents, or certificates of residence.
- Evidence of Persecution (Restitution Track): Ship manifests, naturalization records from the destination country showing the date of arrival/citizenship, or records from the National Fund of the Republic of Austria.
