Documents Required
You must provide comprehensive evidence of your identity, your relationship, and your character. All documents not in English must be translated by a NAATI (National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters) accredited translator.
Identity and Character
- Passport: High-quality color scans of your current passport bio-data page.
- Photos: Two recent passport-sized photographs with your name printed on the back.
- Police Certificates: "Penal clearances" from every country where you have lived for 12 months or more over the last 10 years.
- New Zealand Police Check: You must provide a signed Consent to Exchange Information form to allow Australian authorities to check New Zealand records.
Relationship Evidence
- Official Certificates: Marriage certificates or birth certificates for children.
- De Facto Proof: If not married, you must provide at least 12 months of evidence showing a shared life, such as joint bank account statements, joint lease agreements, or utility bills in both names.
- Dependency Proof: For children over 18, you must submit Form 47a to demonstrate they are still part of the household and financially reliant on the parents.
Health
- Health Examinations: You may be required to undergo a medical exam. You can use the My Health Declarations service to complete this before submitting your application to speed up the process.
