Eligibility Quiz
Have you ever been an Australian citizen?
Documents Required
You must provide comprehensive evidence of your historical residency or service. Because this visa often relies on records from decades ago, the burden of proof is high.
- Identity Documents: A current valid passport, birth certificate, and any national identity cards or name-change documents.
- Residency Evidence (Long Residence Stream): School reports, medical records, census data, or old passports that prove you lived in Australia for 9 years as a permanent resident before age 18.
- Defence Records (Defence Stream): Official military discharge papers and service records showing the duration and nature of your service.
- Proof of Ties: Evidence of ongoing contact with Australia, such as letters, emails, records of visits, proof of Australian bank accounts, or documentation of assets/property held in Australia.
- Character Documents: Completed Form 80 and Form 1221, along with original police certificates from all relevant countries.
- Translations: Any document not in English must be accompanied by a translation from a NAATI accredited translator (if in Australia) or a certified professional translator (if overseas).
